Nute Middle High School is a small, rural school located in Milton, NH on the Maine border just north of Rochester. Nute is a public school serving approximately 310 students in grades 6-12. Approximately 35% of students are eligible for Free or Reduced Lunch. Students at Nute have multiple opportunities to engage in challenging and personalized curriculum. Extended Learning Opportunities, including Virtual Learning Academy, are offered on an individual basis. Students can choose from 120 Virtual High School classes and career technical education classes through a Tri-City agreement with Dover, Rochester and Somersworth.
As a result of participating in the i3 New England Network, the greatest accomplishment has been the change in classroom practice. Nute is more student-centered; students have more voice and choice in what they learn, and how they learn it.
“What is most exciting to see is the energy of students and teachers who are creating learning experiences that are meaningful and engaging.”Fern Downing, Site Coordinator, Special Education teacher and ELO Coordinator
